| Inpatient Nursing Services
, ,This position is PRN; days and shifts will vary.
The Licensed Practical Nurse delivers direct and indirect care to inpatients through the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation. Interact with patient, significant others and other health team members to coordinate total patient care. Maintains professional and unit specific standards of care. Works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

- Rounds on all patients to ensure meeting 5 “P’s”
Quality
- Demonstrates skills and knowledge to effectively complete assigned tasks and completes all required education programs
- Delivers safe, accurate and timely patient care that conforms to AH standards departmental goals and the following job duties:
- Assists with age-appropriate admission and routine assessment to determine medical history and current health status.
- Completes medication reconciliation
- Assists with analyzing the assessment data to determine patient needs and incorporate these needs into a plan of care.
- Implements nursing and physician ordered interventions.
- Evaluates the patient’s progress toward expected outcomes.
- Collaborates with patients, significant others, and health team providers in providing patient care.
- Provides appropriate patient and family teaching.
- Acquires and maintains current knowledge of nursing practice.
- Adheres to hospital policy, procedures and standards.
- Maintains knowledge of hemodynamic monitoring.
Service
- Works diligently to meet every customer’s needs.
- Fully engaged, fully aware and available to help others while on duty
Finance
- Accomplishes tasks with the minimum expenditure of time, materials and money with service as the guiding principle.
- Works productively while on the clock and offers to help others when work is completed.
- Performs other tasks as assigned or needed
- Ensures that all patient rooms are stocked and cleaned
- Receives and places stock items in their proper storage area.

- Demonstrates the ability to positively and productively respond to change.
- Participates in continuous improvement, offering and or implementing methods to improve care and service.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements of this job:
Education and Formal Training: Graduate of an accredited School of Practical Nursing Program and holds a current valid license to practice as a LPN in North Carolina. Completion of general and job specific orientation program within expected timeframe. Current BLS or obtained within 30 days of hire. Current certification in ACLS or obtained within 6 months of hire. Employees who do not attain or maintain their certification as required by policy will not be allowed to work or use PTO and may be subject to further disciplinary action.
Work Experience: Previous nursing experience is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: Works under supervision of a Registered Nurse. Demonstrates a high level of mental and emotional tolerance and even temperament when dealing with ill people; uses tact, sensitivity, sound judgment, and a professional attitude when relating with patients, families, and co-workers at all times. Actively functions as a patient advocate. Excellent communication and administrative skills are necessary. Demonstrates an ability to respond to changing workloads and performs in an accurate and precise manner in crisis and emergency situations when time is crucial. Uses support staff in an efficient and cost-conscious manner.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Hospital environment that includes but is not limited to regular exposure to hazardous conditions including blood, bodily fluids, chemotherapy aspects, and communicable diseases. There is also limited exposure to hazardous cleaning solutions.
